Can drinking water really help to lose weight and hair to grow faster?

I don't know about the hair growing...but I do know that drinking water increases your metabolism. Most people who have cravings throughout the day aren't actually even hungry, they are just de-hydrated, so when you drink you're full 8 glasses a day, you don't feel that craving for random snacking...also I just read today actually that when you drink water that is ice cold, you burn more calories than if you were to drink warm/room temp. water. To be exact you burn about 1 calorie per ounce of ice cold water...so if you were to drink 100ounces of water a day...thats an extra 100 calories!!! Cool eh...I thought so :)
