Why do ferrette's lose their hair?

We had three ferrets, one began losing his hair so we took him to the vet. He was diagnosed with an adrenal gland disease and had to have surgery to take out the diseased gland. After surgery, his hair grew back. A couple of years later, he began losing hair again due to another gland becoming diseased. This gland was inoperable because it was too close to a main artery. Eventually, he died from this condition, as will most ferrets who are left untreated. The site below has a lot of good information about this condition.

Really good answer in #1. Sad story. Take your pet to the vet.
