Why does radiation cause cancer patient to lose their hair?

Not all radiation will cause you to loose your hair. It depends on where you are getting your radiation.

If you are getting it where it does cause you to loose your hair, it's because radiation, like chemotherapy, kills the rapidly multiplying cells, which is cancer and many other cells in your body, including hair cells.

It will grow back once the treatment is over.
