I am in highschool and am considering dying my hair for the first time. One girl I talked to said that you will lose your hair more quickly if you dye your hair early, another said your hair gets very brittle, as these things true? What else should I be worried about? Is it better to have it professionally done or just buy the $15 hair color? Tips for dying? Are there brands I should avoid? Please answer a few of my many questions if you can. Thanks
Are there risks to dying my hair?
yes, your hair may become weaker, thinner, and drier. in addition some of the harsh chemicals in hair dye are suspected carcinogens which means that they may increase your risk of getting cancer some of which are banned ingredients in canada.

No your hair wont fall out, well only if you want to go platium blonde and leave it on too long! any way, you can buy a box from wal mart and do it yourself, then you can go pay double if not triple to go get it fixed by a professional, like me.

if you dye you hair too often yes it can begin to fall out over time, or become brittle.....if you are going to dye it make sure you use a very good conditioner when washing that will keep you hair follicle's from drying out. Having your hair dyed professionally the chemicals are a great deal harsher than buying the do-it-yourself kit from your local department store or pharmacy. Since this is your first time dying, make sure you following the instructions for the preview test to ensure the dye isn't going to cause an allergic reaction.
Don't use herbal essence.....I have found that no matter what colour the box says your hair will turn out based upon your natural haircolour it always turned out looking like crap.
Use Ms. Clariol or Belle Colour I have found these to be great products on the market.
Good Luck :)

It really doesn't matter at what age you start dying your hair. If you have fine hair to begin with then dying it alot will thin it out. If you have coarse hair, then it will turn brittle, and you will get alot of split ends...no matter how well, or often you condition. For 1st timers I suggest getting it done professionally, then you can ask the beautician about retouching it yourself.

I read somewhere a few yrs ago, that if you dye your hair a darker color, it can cause you to get cancer, but dying your hair a lighter color wont do anything. I dont remember all what the article said after each statement.

DO NOT GET IT FROM A CONVENIENCE STORE!!!!!
i once bought hair dye from my local large convenient store and i had a huge rash on my neck and face! It lasted for weeks . I was humiliated!
believe me when i say the extra money to have it done professionally will definitely pay off! GOOD LUCK!!!

i don't really know of any risks someone told me that if you dy your hair or get highlights then your hair will be dull but i do not believe that. it is better to get it professionally done. i have not heard about losing your hair early i think that person was just trying to freak you out. if you do get it dyed then you need to make sure that you take good care of it. if you need some tips then ask a professional hair stylist.
