Yes this is totally normal. Hairs fall out all the time but you dont usually notice because it's not all at once. When you have cornrows in; the braid are preventing hair from falling out at it's normal rate. So when you take them out those hairs can come out in big clumps. It's nothing to worry about at all and has nothing to do with your hair being damaged.

Any time you mess with your hair eg stretching/pulling will cause you to lose or loosen the roots.

you normally loose between 80 and 120 hairs daily. if your hair is braided and not taken down for any length of time (days) then all the hairs that should have fallen out durring those days of having it braided will come out.

if it's really dry and breaking off you will notice the ends of the hairs will be broken off and split. this isn't good. you'll need to use a different product for braiding your hair.

It's not normal. you either left them in too long, or they were too tight, or you did not add any oil to your braid and scalp while they were in or when your tried to take them down, you pulled and tugged and broke off a lot of your hair.
