I agree, sounds like a vet appt. might be a good idea just to make sure there isn't another underlying cause such as old age.

I do know my dad's labrador is about 9 and she is losing an incredible amount of hair, better to be safe though.

mine was 16 when we had her put to sleep and still had her hair i would take your dog to the vet it could be mange or even something as simple as dry skin that makes it scratch the hair out

sounds like it might have a flea allergy.. non of my dogs ever lost their hair when they got older..
