Weight loss=hair loss???

I recently lost some weight... which is gr8! Unfortunately i lost a lot of hair too despite eating balanced food n getting all my required nutrient. Will my hair ever be restored to its former glory... or am i stuck with my shabby head of hair? Im still losing loads of hair even though im not losing weight anymore...help?

If your diet is nutritionally lacking then you WILL lose hair...it could be months before your nutritional level bounces back

you have to see a dermatologist soon. that is a thing that you have to look into now.

Weight loss=hair loss???

I know that extreme weight loss (as seen in anorexics) can cause hair to fall out but that does not seem to be your case does it? It could be entirely hormonal... unless of course you recently had a baby in which case it is to be expected. If it persists I would first check with your hairdresser (s/he can examine your lifestyle for clues) or give your doctor a quick call. My gut feeling is that you are particularly hormonal these days. HTH, good luck!

Weight loss=hair loss???

I've noticed hair loss when I was losing weight. It would come out in my brush, the shower and even shed around the house a bit! It was gross and kind of embaressing but since I've been pregnant and reversed the weight trend (I've been gaining lol) the problem has definately ceased!

Hair loss is usually due to lack of certain nutrients while losing weight, however, sometimes its just due to your shrinking body! You scalp does shrink a bit to accommodate your new body mass and just like the shedding of fat your body will shed excess hair too!

If you have been or start to loss chunks of hair I would see a doctor. If you're just shedding tho, I'd say you're correct in blaming your weight loss and the only thing I would recommend is brushing it over the sink or a trash can to get out any lose hairs and put them where they belong.

Other than that - just try volumizing tips and tricks to make your hair appear fuller!!

all i can contribute is that i have never heard or seen but one case like that. she struggled and lost some weight and her hair got really bad. looked like she was getting apecia and she was a psychiatric nurse in a major facility in dallas, tx. it was a sad case. she was only my neighbor when i was doctor. i thought maybe her job was stressing her out and triggering the problem. suggested she find the right specialists (endocrinologist or whatever) hormones must be involved. she had plenty of energy, was very bright and played half a dozen musical instruments beautifully. but the hair! DON'T GIVE UP NO MATTER WHAT UNTIL A REAL EXPERT FIXES IT OR TELLS YOU THAT IT CANNOT BE FIXED. LOVE FROM PINKY.
