Is it normal if a male pomeranian 12 weeks old is lost his hair?

My puppy is 12 weeks and he is not that hairy as pomeranian suppose to be. He was really hairy when he was little. Is it normal? Is he gonna get his hair back?

Pomeranians do loose their puppy fur and they start looking very patchy sometimes. Some people go ahead and have them groomed so the fur can all be the same length. The fur will grow back, but depending on the puppies diet depends how long it will take as some food has more nutrition than others. Some poms have flea allergies also that will contribute to the loss of fur, but my guess it is going through the normal puppy stage of loosing its puppy fur.

i own a pom and she lost her hair when she was around 12 weeks old also, it is a normal factor for them to do this. Has your puppy been wormed??????? worms will cause them to loose their fur also as the worms take the nutrients from the dog.

There a problem...your pomeranian shouldn't be losing his hair like that...theres something going on with the little guy...this is not a normal thing and i would take himto a vet A.S.A.P. and find out what is happien to your little guy...it could be anything...

There is a coat loss problem in Pomeranians called SHLS (Severe Hair Loss Syndrome). It is also known as Black Skin Disease. It occurs mainly in males. though more females are also showing the disease. They may have profuse puppy coats with no guard hairs, which does not shed. When the puppy coat sheds, the coat does not grow back. Another version of the same condition happens at a later age, with a normal appearing coat that slowly starts to thin, starting at the back of the thighs and buttocks and moving up the back. You need to call the breeder and ask her/him if there are any SHLH problems in past litters.

In 30 plus years living with poms, I can tell you that it takes approximately three years for a pom to grow their full adult coat. A female pom who has recently had pups may blow their coat, but a 12 week old puppy definitely should not be losing hair.
