He shaved his head on his own and he has a germ phobia. He will not shake anybody's hand.

He said on a talk show that his kids thought he would look cool, have a better image, and if you notice, hes trying the whole, "i'm old but i'm still hip" look, i.e. piercings, loud, odd clothing, shaved head, wearing shades at night and during talk show interviews. I thought it was just creepy. And i'm old! I guess when your name is "Howie" you will do anything to jazz up the old image.
