Many chemotherapy drugs will cause hair loss (but not all of them). Radiation will only make you hair fall out if you are getting radiation treatments the head. It will only fall out where the radiation actually hits you. I have seen many patients with bizarre hair patterns because the radiation doesn't cover the whole scalp, it is that precise.

both do, i think.. my mother had chemo for cancer, and i used to go with her to the hospital. the good thing is, if treatment is successful, your hair will grow back. mom's grew back really soft and fine, like rabbit fur.

My dad had chemo and it caused his hair to slowly fall out. I think the strength of the chemo has something to do with it. I know the first time my dad went through chemo is hair didn't fall out. The second time he went through chemo his hair got thin and started falling out. Towards the end my dad went through radiation and it caused his hair to fall out bad. So my answer is both will cause your hair to fall out.

First, it doesn't happen with all chemos. Chemotherapy targets fast growing cells like the cancer cells. Unfortunately, it can also target fast growing healthy cells too, which is why your white blood cell count can plummet and why you lose your hair. Oh, and it's not just the hair on your head, it's body hair too (bye bye, pubes!) There are some advantages: no shaving your legs, no more spending money on hair products. And getting ready in the morning will take a lot less time.

The good news is that it's not forever. A few weeks after chemo is completed, you should start noticing fuzz on your scalp. Sometimes regrowth will be a different texture, like curly if your hair used to be straight. Mine came back in dark brown - and I was a blond. After three years, it's halfway down my back.

Chemotherapy is a treatment which uses anti-cancer drugs to destroy cancer cells. The drugs work by attacking the cancer cells and disrupting their growth. Unfortunately, they can also affect the normal cells in the body, including the cells of the hair follicles. This causes hair loss, also known as alopecia. Unlike cancer cells, however, the normal cells quickly recover, so if hair is lost due to chemotherapy it will grow back when the treatment is over.

Unlike chemotherapy, radiotherapy causes hair loss only in the area being treated. For example, if radiotherapy is directed to the head, it will probably cause some hair loss from the scalp in the area where the radiotherapy beam goes into and out of the scalp. The hair is likely to grow back after radiotherapy, although it may not be as thick as it was before. On average it takes 6閳?2 months for the hair to grow back after treatment has finished. Some people have permanent hair loss after radiotherapy, or find that the hair that grows back is patchy.

I do believe both can depending on what kind you have, i had 2 uncles and an aunt who have done it all and they all lost their hair. Good Luck to you

Chemo is most noted for hair loss, but radiation treatments to the head can cause hair loss also.

Chemo caused me to lose my hair...It started falling out about 2 weeks after 1st session of chemo.
